Travel Duration Analysis

Calculated using:

  • Google Maps Distance Matrix API
  • Central point of each postal code
  • Work destination (EY office)
  • Specific time: 7:30am weekdays
  • Duration measured in seconds

Quality of Life Metrics

Key factors analyzed:

  • Access to water
  • Access to plumbed ablution
  • Median income

Data Collection Process

Challenges & Solutions

Unlike the UK, South Africa doesn't provide granular quality of life indices per postal code. This led to the development of a custom methodology using ward-level census data from 2011.
